Leeds Castle - One of the UK's most visited historic buildings!

Leeds CastleKent has some of the most stunning and iconic places to visit in the UK. With castles to explore, acres of beautiful countryside to walk across and truly memorable sights, holidaying in Kent is becoming a very popular option for UK families wanting a relaxing and affordable holiday.

Why not visit Leeds Castle during your stay at Eastchurch Holiday Centre?

Many visitors to Kent are now taking the opportunity to visit Leeds Castle, near Maidstone and discover its undoubted grandeur and heritage. In fact, in the 21st Century, it has become one of the most visited historic buildings in the UK.

Originally a Norman stronghold, Leeds Castle was built by a Norman baron during the reign of Henry I, William the Conqueror's son. It is more commonly remembered as a royal residence, with six different queens living there throughout its lifetime; it was even used as a palace by Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, his first wife.

Visitors are free to explore the castle itself and see the effects of both Tudor and Medieval periods in the castle's many rooms. The style and splendour of the castle and its rooms, particularly the banqueting hall used by Henry VIII, is something to behold.

There is something for all ages at Leeds Castle too. Once your children have finished their 'history lesson', there is a Knight's Realm Playground, maze and underground grotto to entertain them further.

Leeds Castle's iconic maze, consisting of 2,400 yew trees, has proved incredibly popular with children, parents and grandparents alike! Will you be able to find your way through the spiralling yew maze and make it to the wooden castle in the centre?

It is very easy to spend a whole day at Leeds Castle and still not do everything there is to offer! As well as the castle itself and the maze, grotto and children's playground, it is also home to a 9 hole golf course, a dog collar museum, the Go Ape adventure course, Segway tours, falconry displays and a boat ride on its beautifully clear moat.

As you can see, there is plenty to see and do at Leeds Castle, so why not head over there?
